What can power what?

Is there a list of what can power what? I know a wave engine can send power to an x4 controller for example but can an x4 send power to an Xs or XD?

Just wondering if theirs a general way to know what transmits power.

The command bus will power the brain of any of them as long as there is a source of power. The X2, X3, X4, XS and Minnow do not have a power supply or a separate power input port. So they would require power from another controller or a power supply that connects directly to the command bus. The power supply that connects directly to the command bus cannot be used with another source of power though. The XP8 and Launch have a AC cord and a built in power supply and can power the bus. The XD, X10 and Wave Engines have a separate power input that a power supply connects to and those are needed. The Maven will also be in this camp when released. The Kraken has a large Meanwell power supply that comes with it. It also has 24v DC ports that can be used to power the controllers that have the separate power port instead of using the normal power supply if you want to do that. All the controller that have their own power supply or a separate port can power other controllers on the command bus. Is this the information you were wanting?

SO if I currently have a minnow and looking to add the X4 do I need to get a power cable for the X4 or can I use the one that came with the Minnow and use a bus cable to connect the minnow and X4?

The Minnow comes with a power supply that connects directly to the command bus so you cn only use that if there is no other source of power. The X4 does not have it own source of power so you can power both with that one supply. Just don't connect another source of power like a XP8 without removing the Minnow power supply. Also I would get a couple of terminators while you are at it. That is all you will need per collective. With the power supply you now hve you can only use one but on small collective one is enough.

Blenny, Kraken, Maven, XD, X10, Wave Engine must all be plugged in regardless of what else may be in the collective. General rule of thumb, if a control has a power input then it must be plugged into a wall outlet. Otherwise command bus power will be sufficient for the brain but not the ports. Also, never use a command bus power supply when you have another power giver in the collective unless you have a data only cable. Data only cables used to be frequently seen for power redundancy but are now only necessary if controls are greater than 15' apart.
