The Controller xs does not work with the ATO. I have controller 2. The ATO connects into the controller, the controller HAS to plug into the WIFI powerstrip in order to connect to wifi. So my answer is that you do need the wifi powerstrip to work the ATO and the controller, not that the ATO...

All of the above. I see other people having problems with the firmware update. I just set it up and am also trying to upload inputs and outputs. Just want the topoff to work -- so far no luck.
