I purchased the magnet mount temp sensor a month or so ago. And it initially worked fine. Then it stopped, and all I get is an unknown status from the sensor. I thought maybe I installed it wrong with the orange part submerged in my saltwater sump, and the magnet external, but that appears to be correct.

Next, I switched ports on my X4. It was initially in port 2, and I moved it to port 1 with the same results.

Not sure if there are any other things I can try, or if the sensor just went bad. Let me know if there are any other tricks to get this thing working

Thank you

Bill

Did you unplug the sensor wait a minute or two and plug it back in. Also is there any other devices on sense ports on that controller? If so what are they and are they working ok?

Yes. To all of the questions! X4 with 4 sense ports.

Port 1 is the magnet temp probe
Port 2 is the slim temp probe
Port 3 is the float switch. (Sump level high)
Port 4 is the rope leak sensor.

All of the other sense ports work fine. I switched the ports for the slim temp probe and the magnetic temp probe, and the slim works fine in either port (1 or 2). The magnetic temp probe won’t work in either port. So the common denominator seems to be the magnetic temp probe, not the port.

But I’m willing to move things around and try something else if it could indicate anything.

I see you have the same problem what i have now did you find solution for it.
Actually, I didn’t. After “burning up” 2 of the magnet mount temp probes. I just stuck with the slim line probe. I was only adding the magnet mount probe to check if there was a temp difference between my sump and tank. I didn’t necessarily NEED the second temp sensor for control.

Just saw this post while looking for alternatives to the magnetic mount temp probe. Mine lasted a whopping 6 months than failed. Coral Vue did get me a new one quick enough, but reading this doesn't scream reliability on the sensors part.
