You only need one ground probe, but you "should" have 2 connections to it.Are you saying there is only one ground probe required as opposed to two (one going to outlet and one going to the controller) which is what I gathered from earlier on this thread?
- One connection to the earth on your AC mains for safety, this ensures any stray AC current in your aquarium water has a low resistance path to ground to protect yourself and if it gets high enough, to trip the saftey switch.
- The other connection to a ground is to your controller. This connection is to ensure the ground reference of the water is the same for the ph probe being added to it as your aquarium water is not isolated. It is normally easier you use 2 ground probes instead of trying to daisy chain multiple connections to a single probe, but each to their own how you wish to spaghettify your reef.
