So, i just set up my ato and it worked for an hour so as it should, only to eventually receive a notification that my ato reservoir is empty. My ato pump overfilled the return area way passed the water level sensor. Not sure why this happened. Here are some screenshots on how i currently have things set up. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

What are your advanced setting on your ATO pump? You should not have the alert set on the return water setting. I am surprised you are not an alert for every top off occurrence. I would if I had that set since it takes at least a couple of minutes for it to go wet again, but I do use a dosing pump as my ATO pump.

I guess i just wanted that notification as i figured if im getting notified of that then that means my ato isnt filling up the return area as it should.

Attached is a screenshot of my advanced settings for the ato pump. I set it this way as i figured this would be a way to stop the pump from running in case the sensor was failing. Not sure if this is the right way of doing that.

Is this the Hydros ATO pump? if so you maximum on time should be seconds instead of minutes in most cases. Also you might want to set a larger minimum off time so it cannot run as often. I use 30 minutes on mine. Set a minimum on time of 1 second. You can also set a maximum off time of several hours. The maximum on time and maximum off time will send an alert. I am not sure exactly how much water it will pump is say 5 seconds, but you can set a maximum on time of 5 seconds and the have it dispense in a dontainer then lift the water sensor enough to trigger a fill then it should run for 5 seconds then turn off and alert you. Then you can use that amount as to how long you want to set the maximum on time for. Using a maximum on time with run past maximum set to off and the minimum off time will limit how much it can add in a given amount of time. It did take me a little time to get the settings to where if I get an alert now something has happened and need to be addressed.

Thank you. This makes sense. Yes, this is the hydros pump. Shouldnt the hydros water sensor stop the pump regardless of the max on and off times?

It should but The maximum on time is you backup for the sensor. I always try and plan some kind of backup for any sensor just in case it fails for some reason. I use a dosing pump since m ATO container is in the garage 35ft from the tank. The tubing goes up through the attic to the tank. The Hydros ATO pump will not lift the water up more than a few feet. If the pump were to run to the max on timer with run past maximum on time set to off the pump will turn off and stay off until you intervene. I usually turn it off and on then to auto if that happens, but now that I have everything set I would look for an issue before doing that. I also have AWC and the maximum off time and maximum on time have detected issue with that system as well. If one of the pump heads has an issue it will over fill or under fill causing an issue with the ATO that is out of the norm.

Thank you for your help. I will adjust things and keep you posted. Thanks again.

I used the log information for the ATO on and off times to fine tune my maximum run times. In my case, the ATO typically runs between 9 and 12 seconds, so my max run time is set for 20 seconds. Should my ATO container run dry, this will prevent the pump from burning out.
