I have a reefer 170 that I dyi'd the small redsea ATO into a refugium. long story short I drilled the one end and placed a bulkhead and have it partitioned so water is pumped in the one end with the chaeto then flows over a divider and fills the other end that flows out with a bulkhead back to the return pump chamber. I swiped my skimmer sensor for now and placed it in the return end in case there is a back up so it will turn the pump off. Thanks Carlos for pointing out that sensor automatically does that!

What I want to do is add as XS control and place either a skimmer sensors or water level sensors in both ends in case either begin to back up and the levels rise to high. Just not sure which is the better option, considering they both cost the same maybe its not really a big deal either way? Sounds like overkill I know but im leaving for nearly 2 months and have someone else handling things daily but trying to prevent any possible catastrophe's

Both work the same except the skimmer sensor has to see through the panel whereas the regular sensor has the sensor does not. I use the skimmer sensor on my Klir roller and sometimes I might bump the outside magnet part and it becomes misaligned with the sensor on the inside of the panel, That creates a false water level reading.

I guess there is no way to say have a skim sensor at my intake end of my refugium and the exit end and have both assigned to shut the pump off if either is tripped. Looks like I can only assign one to that outlet strip.

Sorry about that it posted before I was ready. i used the Depends on setting to another output which is generic. It has all the different inputs that I want to use to control the ATO. I also have its depends on set to the return pump.

I guess I was thinking you were trying to have your return pump turn off depending on more than one sensor. I think I misunderstood your post.

I want my refugium pump to turn off based on 2 sensors. So for example the water inlet side if it rises to high before it flows over the baffle to the outlet side I want it to shut off but on the outlet side if it rises to far above the outlet I want it to shut off the refugium pump as well

You can do the same thing I posted with any pump output. It does not have to be the ATO. I have the same logic for my ATO, AWC and skimmer outputs. I just used a different set of inputs for each.

Thanks I will have to check it out. On another note I j have a control 4 filled so adding an XS but no one but coralvue seems to sell that termination cable do you have to have that?

You do but if you are handy with a soldering iron you can add one to your power pack connector. Here is a thread on doing this DIY Terminated Power Supply .

I know this is an old thread but when you say see through does it have to be clear acrylic or does it just need to be aligned. (could it go on black acrylic)
