If you like doing that then go for it. I get enough of it at work though. I assume you found the pinouts for the connectors in the forum.
Yeap, looks simple enough, I like soldering. :)
Just curious about which watt, which isn't in the pinout instructions.

Danny quick question, my XP8 isnt factory resetting, any idea if I should be using a much stronger magnet?

Not shure why you would need to do a factory reset. I did a couple of time when I got my first hydros but that has been a few years. I have 15 of the controllers now and have not done a factory reset. I usually suggest not doing one unless someone from CoralVue says to. Is there an issue with the XP8?

No issue, but I usually do factory resets on all new devices when received, I do testing etc.. once warranty time is has past I'm kinda screwed if basic features are not working.

I noticed all the other devices have electronics right below where the magnet is suppose to sit. This one doesnt.

You can setup outputs and test them that way and then delete them once you are done. Also if you do that to test it and then add it to a collective all the settings will get erased anyway. It should come like it was factory reset. You need to add it to your account and setup the wifi credentials.

Hello folks, so I just got an XD... I added it to my collective....got a 1ft cambus to connect it to my x8 and then put the terminator....I connected dosers to the XD and they won't work....I tried them on my X4 and they worked....I noticed that the XD came with a power brick....do I have to use that...and if so can I plug that into the launch...as I have no more available outlets.... thank you in advance..

If the power supply connect to a port other than the command bus you will need that supply for any outputs to work on that controller but you will have to remove any power supply that connects to a command bus port from the collective since it is not compatible with other sources of power. So if the X4 is the only other controller you will have to remove the power supply it came with. You will also need at least one terminator for the controllers in the collective to communicate. If you have several controllers you will need two terminators.

No I have an entire collective X8, Launch, X4, X2, and now the XD..... my question is do i HAVE to use the power source on the XD or can I use the cambus data and power cable.....and if I cant use the cambus...can I plug the XD power source into the launch.

You have to have a power source connected to the power port of the XD if you want the drive ports to work. They get their power from that port and not the command bus. The command bus cannot power those drive ports since they have higher maximum current than the ones on a X4. I think id did say that any controller that has a separate power port requires that power source f you want the outputs on that controller to work. There are several like this including the XD, Sole, X10 and wave engines.

I'm planning on having 3 remote groups of components with GX12 terminated cat5 connecting each group (data only due to the 15' limit being exceeded). I have conduit running from my sump to display, and sump to mixing station, but not display to mixing station, so I think I'd be looking at this, right? The curved lines would be the cat5, and the other smaller runs would just be normal data+power cables. If I go this route, each group would need it's own power either from a powered component, or a wall wort?
