Hi all just wondering is there a way that when doing a AWC that the main pump in my sump would shutdown and also my skimmer pump ? Then the front section of my sump water level would raise and then drain, then fill and then both the main pump and the skimmer pump would turn on again? Thx all

You could have the return pump depend on the AWC, and the skimmer depends on the return pump. The only problem with killing the return pump is that your sump water level will go up and throw off your AWC.

Thx Carlos so I would find a way to do this in the AWC settings? Yes with both pumps off the water will but never goes above the high Optic sensor, then drain till it gets to the lower sensor. Then hopefully fill back to the upper sensor then shut off and turn both pumps back on. Looking to change about three to five gallons a day instead of 25 to 30 gals on the weekend

Carlos is right since the AWC and ATO use the same sensor you will need your return pump and skimmer to continue to run. Mine when either the skimmer is off or both pumps are off the sump fill up past a high level sensor. The AWC uses the same sensor as the ATO and that is full when both pumps are running. so it would drain but only fill up to that sensor but with the pumps off so when the pumps start back up the difference would come from the ATO and not the fill pump. It would be better to do more than one water change sequence and keep the pumps running.I do it three times a day.

Thxs for the input Danny. But if u do three water changes a day aren’t you getting rid of some of the good water also? How many gallons do u change a day?

I run the drain for 11 minutes each time that is 913ml each time for a 42 gallon tank. I was using a dosing pump with dual pump heads. but I switch to two pumps to check out the built in auto water change. Since it is the same pumps without the second head it didn't change much switching other than it does not fill and drain at the same time now. I was doing the three times a day schedule with the dual head dosing pump also.

Here is a link to a calculator that will tell you how much new and old water you remove when you do frequent small water changes.
