Can't get Control 4 to turn back on

My Control 4 is part of a collective (X8 with terminator on far left, data only cable to Wave Engine, data/power cable from Wave Engine to Control 4, terminator on control 4). All of a sudden, the Control 4 and WE lost all power, breaking the collective . I noticed that if I disconnect the Control 4 from the WE, the WE will power back on. If I reconnect the Control 4, the WE loses power again. So, I removed the data/power cable from the control 4 and just tried to give it power with the original power cord to an outlet and it won't turn on. I can't figure out any way to get the Control 4 to turn on. Any ideas?

One thing you can try is to disconnect all cables except for power to the controller and try powering it. There may be something connected to it loading it down, but never seen that kill power to the whole controller but it is worth a try.

I tried that. No luck. Of course, this had to happen on a weekend. I can live without my PH probe, temp. sensor, and skimmer sensor for now, but my ATO pump and sensor are connected to the Control 4. That is going to become a real problem.

I am going to assume you do not have another controller in your collective with sense ports. You do have an XP8 that can power a ATO pump if you have a pump that runs on AC power. I use dosing pumps for ATO and AWC. The pumps run on drive ports but can be powered by AC power packs which I do have a few around. I do have some spare AC outlets on the system that are not in use also if I need them. But none of that will help if you do not have sense ports you can use. Might be a good idea to have a X2 or a XS in the collective just in case. If you are like me I can find a use for the extra ports. I have 18 sense ports in use and 10 drive ports in use. I can always re purpose some if need be to keep the tank running.

The XP8 and the Wave engine are both connected to power outlets, so I figured I only need a data cable between them. I normally only use a data/power cable to bring power from the Wave Engine to the Control 4.

Only the power packs that connect directly to the command bus cannot be used with another power source since they are not isolated, Those normally come in the starter kits. The others have isolation circuitry built into the controllers and can be used together. So if you want you can use a standard cable between the XP8 and wave engine.

An advantage to using a standard cable would be if you have a battery back up on your wave engine then the brain in the XP8 would remain powered. Of coarse there would be no AC to power the outlets but at least you would not have a broken collective during the power outage.
