Collective Question

While I’m waiting for all my Hydros pieces parts to get here, been reading up. Read Collective 101 but I wanted to be sure I understand it correctly. I (will) have a Control 4 and a Wave Engine. In order to run it as a collective, the C4 would be the master unit with a Command Bus cable connected between C4 and WE. A Terminator on either end with a power supply. Does it matter which, C4 or WE supplies the power?

Yes it does matter and that's a great question. You want to use the Wave Engine's Power supply.

One thing I forgot to ask…..in the reading it mentions you need at least one, preferably two Terminators. Will the collective still work with one Terminator in the scenario of a Wave Engine and C4? Thanks!

It should if the cable is one of the 6ft cables. When you start going a greater distance like from one room to another then you will probably want a second terminator. I had three control units with a single terminator at one time without an issue. I was using 2 of the standard buss cables.

Yes, it’s the standard 6’ Command Bus cable. The C4 and Wave Engine will just be an inch or so apart. So it looks like I’m in business!

Yes you'll be fine with that. If you decide to expand in the future then I'd suggest throwing another terminator in for good measure.

By way of expanding, do you mean if I decided to get a Control XS to add more sensor ports? Then I would bookend the Terminators.

They are certainly cheap enough, I will scour for another one.

Yes , Its always good to "bookend " them .
