Control 4 losing connection to WiFi after installing 178

I am growing more and more frustrated with 178. Today’s problem was with my Control 4. This aquarium has a C4, three quad outlets, and one single WiFi outlet. When I switched from Normal mode to Water Change mode, the C4 did not communicate with two of the three quad outlet strips. So, half of my devices turned off like they were programmed to do and half did not. I had to power cycle C4, wait a minute, then try it again. After the power cycle, the C4 communicated with all three quad outlet strips and it worked.

Thirty minutes later, I was switching from Water Change mode back to Normal mode. Same problem. This time the C4 did not communicate with one of my three quad outlet strips. So, power cycle C4, wait, try it again, and it worked.

I had zero problems while using 165. I’m going to reinstall the older firmware and stick with it until 178 gets updated or repaired.
Just experienced what you did (in a way). I have a Hydros wifi plug that is configured for use in both Normal and Water Change modes. When I completed my weekly maintenance just now I switched back to Normal mode and what happened? The wifi plug is Not Responding. This did not happen in the past.

In the mean time how are you initating the mode you are entering. Is it from the app or from a switch on a 0-10v input.

I will have to switch modes some. Only ting is I don't have anything programmed to turn off in any mode. I will have to program something and see what happens.

This is curious. My problems on Sat began with loss of connectivity to the wifi strip. Today it was the wifi plug. Since it seems that most on here never see these problems I am starting to suspect I’ve been dealt a lemon C4. Maybe a few others who have voiced their problems on here as well? I am not doing anything special. No collective. Just the C4 starter kit, add in rope leak detector, water sensor, skimmer sensor and wifi plug. That’s all. My strip has a skimmer, return pump and a led light plugged into it. I took the heater off it due to Saturday’s issue.

Just re-read this. No. I wasn’t turning the wifi plug on/off when switching modes. It was not supposed to change state between Normal and Water Change modes which makes it a head scratcher as to why the C4 lost sight of it.

Ok so far mine works manually it tried feed mode and water change. I will have to try it several times to see. I do have a collective with 5 control units.

I am assuming you have some outputs that do switch off or on during the mode switch. I didn't have any set so I figured I need to setup some like that othwise there would be no difference between the modes.

Thanks for helping out Danny. You are a great member. I see you spend your time and efforts assisting so many on here. It doesn’t go unnoticed!

Yes. I shut down the skimmer and return pump and turn on the led light for my sump when I go to Water Change mode. Then reverse it when I go back to normal. The wifi plug should not be affected from either switch as it’s active in all modes. Oh....if it makes any difference, I have a delay set for the skimmer. It will turn back on 30 secs after the return pump.

Same problems with mine as well since 165 firmware change

Well ain’t that something? I just noticed that the wifi plug reconnected all by itself. Wish there was a log to tell me exactly when. It took well over an hour if I had to guess. Still shouldn’t have happened in the first place though. I’ll change the modes again to test after the next feeding tonight.

Does it happen on yours when entering or exiting a different mode?
It just goes out for no reason, starts blinking than it kicks power off on power strips few seconds go by turns back on. Return pump off and on is the worst
