- I am going to pre-face this, I have not actually tested this but in theory this will work -
All VorTech pump controllers have a secondary port on the controller for the Ecotech Battery solution. This port usually gets 12V supplied to it from the ETM Battery Pack and when prime power dies, this secondary port takes over and runs the pump. This is for all 3 models, MP10/MP40/MP60.
The cable that the ETM battery uses to power this port has a 2 AMP inline fuse, so we should be able to use a Kraken 12V Drive Port for this backup power function since each Kraken Drive Port supports up to 2.5A each (and 4A total for all 4).
1) Connect your vortech normal power supply as you normally would (unless its a MP10, then its possible to use a FORCE port since its 24V, while all others are NOT).
2) Get a Drive Port Adapter Cable (HYDROS Drive Port Cable)
3) Get a 5.5x2.1mm to 3.5x1.35mm adapter, either Amazon.com or Amazon.com
4) Attach the Drive Port Adapter Cable to your Kraken and then plug the other end into your Vortech Battery Port using the adapter from 3.
5) Program the Drive Port to always be on (esp when in low power/battery mode)
This now should provide 12V battery power (from your Kraken battery) over to your Vortechs so they can run w/o the main power supply on.
- In the case of the MP10, you MIGHT also be able to just get away with using the Force Port on the main power connection and not use the battery port at all. I havent tested it but its possible that the MP10 will still run with either 24 or 12V into the main port.
