Firmware 179 is now available as a "Release Candidate" version for the following devices:
  • Control 4
  • Control 2
  • Control XS
Firmware 179 DOES NOT apply to WaveEngine and IceCap Controller.

IMPORTANT: If you have issues installing firmware 179 where you install the firmware but the unit reverts back to previous, then do the following: Tap on the "Install 179" button and then immediately kill/close the app. Wait 60 seconds and then return to the app and everything should be ok.

As always, you can also control your devices using our CoralVue HYDROS Web App.

What is Release Candidate?

Release Candidate (RC) is the build released to check if any problems have gone undetected into the code during the previous development period. In most cases, there are no differences between the final build and the last release candidate.

Release Candidate is NOT the same as Final version. If you install a Release Candidate version, the app will warn you, "Firmware update available. The firmware in this unit does not match the current release," which is normal. Just cancel and continue normal use of the device. Once the Release Candidate version is marked as Final Version, the app will cease notifying you.

How To Install Release Candidate Firmware Version
  1. Open the status screen of your device or collective.
  2. Tap on the three horizontal dots on the UPPER right-hand corner and select "Device Properties."
  3. Scroll down and tap on "Update Firmware."
  4. Under each device, tap on "Load Experimental Version" and type 179 to download.
  5. Once downloaded, tap on "Install 179."
  6. The unit will restart.

I’m sure I have to get a support ticket but I did the above, now every time I go to the app this message appears “ firmware updates available, the firmware in this unit does not match the current release”. Devise properties state I’m running 179

Yes, since you are using an RC firmware, you will get that until we make the 179 final public version. You can just tap on cancel. It will only ask you when you connect to the device and not all the time.

Thanks Carlos, makes me feel better..lol

I'm confused. Is 179 released or no. I had trouble with my power strips disconnected and was looking for the update.

Yes, it is a release candidate. Just follow the instructions on the first post to install.

@Carlos This is fire. Please more like this we love to see what's happening and being fixed and involved in the project / products we love. THANK YOU FAM.

EDIT: Also the fact you are doing RC is top tier next level support. I think its great.

Hi all just wondering if this is normal? I updated to 179 no problems all good but there’s still a down load file Icon in top right corner

If it is not the official current release you will get a message when starting the app also. 179 is not set for that yet.

I have not had any issues with 179. I have been trying to get it to disconnect the way 178 was, but I have been unable to do so. 179, in my brief experience, is much more stable. Thanks.
