My new xp8 came with firmware 198. My other stuff in the collective is 197. Could this be the reason I'm having a hard time adding the xp8 to the collective? Breaks the collective every time. Cables, terminators properly installed. The collective (x4 and wave engine) and the xp8 both work fine on their own but won't play together.

What do you mean by breaks collective? Do you get a specific error? Did you try update changes and watch as it updates to see if one of the devices fails to take the update?

Sometimes it seems to be successful adding to the collective, but then everything starts flashing red on the screen and it says "collective broken." Sometimes it seems to add the xp8 to the collective but then won't give me a status: gray screen: have to reboot my iPhone and/or reinstall the Hydros app.
It won't let me update firmware, either on the collective from 197 to 198, or on the xp8 198 down to 197.

...and sometimes it doesn't get even that far. On the update page, all devices update except the xp8 which just spins the green circle for update changes.

if it is the last one then It may be the reason. When that happens i usually reboot that controller via the app. I then wait till it has rebooted then try the update changes again.

I can't do that because that controller refuses to update, so I can't even get a status page for it.

Sending my XP8 to Coral Vue, they actually updated it from 197 to 198 and now its working perfectly with my X4 in a collective. The app still asks for me to "upgrade" to 197, but I just ignore it.

I'm having the same issue. The XP8 seemed to be fine. Mine too has 198. I added to the collective without any issues. After I tried to change some options the changes weren't saved then I got the broken collective. The mode light on it is blue while the other three are green. I couldn't find anything that shows what the colors mean. I just removed it from the collective and now when I go back into the XP8 it's asking me to revert to 197...soooo I guess that's what I should do.

Well, unfortunately that didn't solve the issue. I was able to add the XP8 back to the collective but as soon as I tried to add an output and upload the changes the collective broke again.
