Ok so I am setting up a 12 gallon frag tag and opted to use and all in one instead of plumbing it to my main system.

With that said I plan on simply routing the fill pump from an AWC to pull from the main sump. I run the Triton System so I am hoping this allows me to pretty much keep the parameters all the same and minimal testing on the smaller tank.

So when the AWC runs on the main I want to run it on the frag too so that is pulls about a gallon a day from the main as fill. In my mind I need to run these almost at the same time so the main is not trying to top off it is simply filling from the salt water resevoir. I think that means that the frag tank needs to be filling from the main while the main is running it's dump/drain schedule.

Can you all think of anything that might make this more complicated then I am thinking? or a way to set the 2 dif AWC so they run the correct way/timing? Would there be a way to make the frag AWC stop if for any reason the main didn't run? Other pitfalls?

It is
A gallon a day sounds like a lot for a 12 gallon tank.
It is, but I don't want to maintain (test) two seperate systems so I thouhgt to try this. So if I need to treat any corals I can take it out of my main and drop it in here and stopt the awc, hopefully! :)

Logistically not an easy way to plumb it into the system eitehr.

If you use the standard AWC output type the drain is done first and then the fill. That is a lot of water to remove from a 12 gallon tank before refilling it. Any filters or skimmers that affect the water level need to be left on during the water change since it uses the ATO sensor during the fill mode of the AWC. So anything that would affect the water level has to be the same as when using the ATO.

I hadn't really thougt of that, but tihnk that the way I have things set up crurently it will actually do this at 3 differnt times so about 1/3 gallon each (or whatever amount I deicide on).

I will have to test some things when its finally got water in it. Glad for the extra input and things to consider.
