So this has happened twice now. My heater is set to come on at 50 off at 79.5. My thinking is the power outlet should be on - the heater itself if that fails in the on position and the tank heats up the Hydros will shut it off. I should mention this is active in all modes, no dependancy.

Twice now the heater output is off. It is set to auto and should be on but the output is not in.. if I manually turn it on. It comes on. If I then set to auto it stays on…. (Like it should based on what I think my settings are). But the later it is in the off state….

You mean you don't want your heater to come on until the tank gets down to 50 and then go off if it gets above 79.5? Then not come back on until it goes down to 50 again?

You have it set to stay off until it gets back down to 50.

When you set up a range, you must remember that ON/OFF are two valid statuses if you are within the range. It all depends on which end you are coming from.

For example, if your temperature reaches above 79.5, the heater will turn OFF and remain OFF until your temperature dips below 50. Therefore, in that particular instance, OFF is the correct status.

On the other hand, if your temperature drops below 50, the heater will turn ON and remain ON until your temperature exceeds 79.5. So in that instance, ON is correct as well.

If you want your heater to work correctly, you need to narrow the range.

Try setting the on setting to 79.1. Then if it turns off for going above 79.5 it will turn back on when it goes below 79.1.
