Good morning everyone,
The other day we had some thunderstorms roll through and the power flipped off for a couple minutes. I ran and checked my tank. And everything appeared fine. About 20 minutes later I started getting an alarm saying that the temperature was out of its threshold.
It was then I realize that the heater never came back on when the rest of the system rebooted.

So I did open up the app and was able to click the tile and put it into on manually and it came on perfectly fine because it is being run by a heater controller. Everything started to warm up and work as it should. The tech never got cold. Thanks to the Alarm.

So I put it back in automatic mode and it proceeded to work the rest of the day.
When I got home from work yesterday afternoon, I tried just unplugging the XP8 to simulate a power outage. Plugged it back in waited for it to reboot and I checked the status of everything when I refreshed the app or the display screen should I say the heater tile was gray. Indicating that It did not turn it back on.
So I put it in manual mode to on and then back to auto and everything worked fine.
And then I tried it again with the same result I was wondering if anybody has had this issue and could point me in the right direction for help.

Thank you everybody in advance

Post a screenshot of your heater output. You may have your turn on set point set too low. The low point is where the heater turns on the high point is where the heater turns off. Between the two the heater can either be on or off and that is normal. Below the low number the heater will always be on. Above the high number the heater will always be off.

mine does the same thing. My heater range is 75-82 and my tank temp is 78. I think its because I have the If input unavailable set to off

If you have it set to 75-82, and power cycle your system with the outlet set to AUTO, the output will come up as default OFF and wont turn back on until temp drops below 75.

Ok, I will use one of my heater outputs as an example. The turn on temp is set to 75.9. It the temp is above 75.9 and below 76.3 the heater can be either on or off since it will not turn on if off until the temp drops to the turn on temp. My turn off temp is set to 76.3 so it will not turn off if on until the temp reaches that temp. once off it will not turn back on until the temp goes down to or below 75.9 which is the turn on temp. I hope this explains how this works. There are other things that work this way also like controlling an output with pH reading.

I have it set to turn on at 77° and turn off at 79.6°
But when that power cycle happened the tank was still at full temperature not exceeding the 79 but it did drop below 77 and start sending me alerts because the heater was not turned back on after the system rebooted.
Anyways, here’s a screenshot and I greatly appreciate your help and insight

With those settings it won't turn on until it gets below 77. if that is to low then raise that up some. If it were me I would have it at least at 79. I assume you are using this as a backup for another heater controller. If so make sure the low number is higher than the temp you have set on the other controller so it will come on for the other controller to be able to boot up and be ready when it drops below it's limit.

Oops, sorry I was just reading your reply and realized I did not attach the first screenshot.
Yes, you are correct I am using innovative, marine Helos as my main controller, and the hydros is just a failsafe
Apologies for some reason it comes on and basically stays on the whole time even when I enter into water change mode. The only time it doesn’t go back to auto is after a power failure, or simulated power failure

According to your screenshot you have it set to be active in water change mode. If you want it off then uncheck that box. It should be in auto id you want the Hydros to control it. If you put it in on or off the the controller is overridden and it will remain there until you put it back to auto. What temp do you run your Helos at? You want both thr turn on temp and turn off temp higher than that temp since the Hydros is there just to turn it off if it get too hot and not to control it. I would set the turn off temp 3 degrees higher than the Helos and set the turn on temp .3 degrees lower than turn off temp. in your output settings. Then the Hydros should be on unless it is above the turn on temp once it goes above turn off temp or you loose power. If you loose power once power is restored and the temp is above turn on it will be off until it drops below that setting. That is why you want turn on temp above your Helos temp.

OK Danny now I get it.
Let me try that when I get home work.
Thank you for all your help.
FYI I’ve been loving the Hydros. I haven’t tried a controller since the digital aquatics reef keeper. That thing was a pain you basically had to write code for it. And the other brand wasn’t much different at the time.
