How can I change the state of an outlet on the XP8 based on the value of a float switch?

For example, I don't want my heater to run if the water level in my sump gets to low which is determined by a float switch.

Surely there must be a way to control outputs from the value of a sense port but I can't figure it out.

TIA

To use a float switch, you will need a X4 or Wave Engine with 0-10v inputs joined to your collective. Or you could connect a water level sensor to sense ports on X2, X3, X4 or XS.

Is the XP8 in a collective with other controllers that have sense ports? Do you have a float switch connected to a sense port?

Thanks for the reply! Sorry for not being more specific, but I do have collective with sense ports. As it turns out, I figured it out. Rather than using a default Heater output, I had to create a generic output and then add multiple devices (heater and float switch) to the generic output. That gives the ability to crate logical conditions using AND and OR.

Thanks!

Sorry. Yea, the default recipes provide basic functionality serving the majority of use cases. If you want to do something more customized then Generic or Combiner outputs are the way to go. You may notice the Generic or Combiner outputs may change the icon associated with the output. If you want to use a custom icon, say for instance the heater with your Generic output then just click on the pencil in the upper left corner while editing the the existing symbol and you see a pick list you can choose from or enter the first few characters of the type and it will filter the list down. Choose the desired symbol and upload configuration to save.
