are you trying to connect thru a 2.4g network and is your phone connected to that network?

Here is the inline manual at the paring WIFI strips. HYDROS Control 4 - How to Pair WiFi Strip/Smart Outlet . Make sure you 5ghz band and 2.4ghz band on your router have a different name. If they are the same you will have issues like this. Like JRill said make sure the device you are using to pair the wifi strips is on the same router channel you trying to put the wifi strip on. That should be the same as the control unit.

The Hydros only works on 2.4 ghz so if you have the control unit set up then you must have a 2.4ghz channel. The issue is the wifi strips have to go on the same channel.

Also you can always get an access point and set it up with a different name and password and use it only for the Hydros devices. Use the wired type which connects to your router with a CAT 5 type cable. HYDROS Control - What kind of WiFi router do I need?

Ok, may be a silly question. Do you have a controller and what network is it connected too?
