HYDROS WiFi Fish Feeder port corrosion

Anyone experienced corrosion on usb ports of these HYDROS WiFi Fish Feeder - HYDROS ?

Both of mine over saltwater tank are becoming iffy on connection and both port and cord are showing slight corrosion. They are not in splash zone or anything like that, but obvious above a saltwater tank. It does seem like a bad decision to even have that sort of connector there in first place.

Has anyone tried to rewire these in a more waterproof manner? I'm thinking to solder wire directly to the feeder and move connector somewhere down the line, with something like GX12 connector.

I have had one since they came out with them it is in a canopy on a 42 gallon hex tank but the ventilation fans pull air from the canopy and the area of the stand where the sump is at. Mine has been fine but the constant ventilation may be a big help. Here is a photo where you can see the feeder.

Maybe in a more enclosed canopy it's helpful to have more exhaust, mine is fairly small, mostly to block light spill. Feeders are maybe 1" below edge of canopy and there is no lid on top.

Either way, it's a poorly thought through connection point. They really should move it down the cord a bit. And I'm sure internals could use some waterproofing as well.

But was mostly asking, if someone has moved the connection already. I would guess it's just 2 wires?

I had that problem on one when they first came out. It was getting a bit of salt creep. I sealed it with silicon and had not further problems. My two other feeders are not exposed to creep and have never had an issue.
