I'm in process of setting up a new reef tank and was wondering how dosers on X10 would rate against something stand alone as I would really only add it to my collective just for the dosers and would still new 2-4 more lol.

Looks like replacement wise it would need this to swap the whole head.

For dosing I so far have a plan for somewhat simple liquids next to the sump, so the would not be long runs or big changes in height. Not 100% yet if last two can be dosed really, but I think so :)

CalciumCalcium ChlorideTrace K
AlkalinitySoda AshTrace A
MagnesiumMagnesium C & S
Sea Water EqTropicMarin Part C
AminoTropicMarin Amino-Organic
CarbonTropicMarin NP Bacto Balance

Also I could see in the future needing more for some sort of liquid food, which might need reverse flow to not keep things in the lines. This might only be needed for vacation modes, and I'm hoping to avoid this scenario all together...

Finally, I like uniformity, so I would want to keep it all the same and from current needs it would be two X10s, which I suppose could be replaced with 2 F4 Pros (looks like it's the same pump) for half the price, although I imagine worse integration with Hydros system or really no integration :)

Or even cheaper I could keep using Hydros Dosing Pumps, granted these need drive ports as well, which I would have a few, but will likely need X2 or XD added. Also mounting these leave a bit the be desired. Will need to design something to 3D print to keep all 8 in place :)

Or should I go with something else completely like EcoTech or RedSea ones?

The X10 is more than just the 4 pumps. It has 2 drive ports, 1 pH port, 1 conductivity port and 4 sense ports. So it is a Hydros controller that happens to have 4 precision dosing pumps as 4 of its output ports. The speed on the X10 dosing pumps is selectable and also they can run both directions. There is also the newer 2ml per minute Hydros dosing pump that you can plug into a AC output on a XP8 and control it. Also you can use the 2 drive ports on the X10 to control 2 of the Hydros simple dosers.

Sure. I just mean I would have all the ports I need already and it would just be adding dosers and not really replacing anything.

For now I think I will just go with 8 Hydros drive port dosers. AC ones would likely take up too much space with their power supplies I imagine and need their own XP8 or maybe kraken if they have that sort of plug, so not really that attractive.

The Hydros simple dosers have a 43ml a minute flow rate and they have to run at least 2.5 seconds each instance. So keep that in mind.

Didn't know that, thanks, I'll keep it in mind.

No Kraken option for this I guess, thought it maybe would have 12v brick

Guess it's back to X10 then, is there info on what these pumps can do somewhere, doesn't seem to even mention flow rates anywhere on product page, unless I'm really missing it :)

...found this maybe will hear something about it

The X10 flow rate is settable when setting up the output. I have one set to 3ml per minute and 2 set to 10ml a minute. My fill pump is set to 75ml a minute.

IC, was trying to see it in the app, but I guess it does not give me option for that kind of output without X10 in the system, just see simple doser.
