I confused myself - Light Schedules

Can someone please un-confuse me?

I have been using a Kessil A360 on my tank with Hydros for a while now using the old-style outputs to control Intensity/Color. I tried making a new light schedule and now I messed up bad and can't get it to work now...

My current outputs:

• Powerstrip
• 0-10v 1 Color Control
• 0-10v 2 Intensity Control

My Current Schedules:

• Color
• Intensity

With the below setup, I thought I programed a parabola for intensity (13%-50%-13%) and color (0%-100%-0%)(blue-white-blue) but my light came on at 100% intensity blue then one minute later went 100% intensity white, something is really wrong. Seems crazy to me that I had this working with 3 programmed outputs and now with the updated version with "Light Schedules" I need 5 program areas??? I need help, please... MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Sorry I have LED lighting but not Kessil. Mine are DIY. I have 6 individual channels of control red, green, blue, white, royal blue and UV.

Kessel Color and Kessel Intensity need to be defined as Variable Lights, not as LED Lights. LED lights are for simple lights that only turn on or off.

Hey Don, that worked, thanks man. I also had to set the Intensity/Color outputs to my desired %'s.

Its weird that I now have:
13%-50% set on both the output of Intensity and schedule
0%-100% set on both the outpus of Color and schedule.

What is the controller using for priority level command?

FYI this is much more complex than the previous way you guys had it where I could do this with just my outputs.

Hi,

I am glad it worked. You are right that it is more complex, particularly when using it as you are for Color and Intensity. However it is also much more powerful. Each schedule can control multiple lights and each light can be controlled by multiple schedules (at different times).

The two percentages are multiplied to produce the final result. So if you set (for example) 20-80% on a given output and the schedule then goes from 1-50% the light will actually go from 20 (minimum) to 40% (80% * 50%). So the output numbers let you set minimum and maximum levels for a given light.

Suppose you had one really bright light that you wanted to balance with a less powerful light. You could set the powerful light to 20-60% , the smaller light to 20-100% and then assign then both to the same schedule.

The low number on the actual output defines the minimum level for that light. It will "pop" from 0 to that number any time the schedule is above 0. This is for lights that won't produce any output at all till they hit a certain input value.

I hope this makes sense. It is pretty much identical to the way we run flow pumps as well.

Good info here, and yes I set the Min intensity on my Kessil starting at 13% because that's when the light actually turns on. Thanks for the explanation of how the software works.
