Ice cap battery backup install to existing collective

Hello. I’m fairly new to hydros and never used controllers before this. I currently have a X4, XP8 and a wave engine running in a collective. I am installing a icecap battery backup v3 now. My question is do I need to power off the collective before connecting the battery backup? I just don’t want to damage anything.

It is always best to power down. Also once the backup has been installed it will have to be disconnected as well to power down the collective when you need to do that again.
