I just setup a Launch for my RS 200G2. While trying to take out the quartz sleeve for my UV, I dripped water on the Launch and now it's not working. I let it try and now it kinda boots up but flashes Red and White - Drive ports 3 and 4 bounce back and forth on the Red. Am I outta luck?? I mean I JUST set this up!

The only place water can get in is the AC outlets. If water got on those then it can get on the PC boards inside the unit.

Water got in. hmmmm....
Not sure, I was just saying the AC outlets are the only thing that is not IP65 rated on the controller and the standard AC outlets that you need for all the AC devices used on aquariums are not IP65 rated. I do not have any devices with AC outlets near my sump. At the tank I have cabinets that are separated from the area with water other than a pass through for cords. So luckily I have not got any of my electronics wet with water in the 8 years I have had the tank setup but if the controllers were in the same area with the sump it would be very easy to get them wet. If it did get water inside I would power it down until you can get it out.

Yea, I get it. I was upgrading my tank and wanted to reuse the aquarium for a setup in the bedroom. I went with the Launch because it would cover the setup well. I should have not mounted it under the UV. Oh well, on me.

I already have it out of the cabinet. Was hoping it would dry and come back to life, but I doubt it. Hopefully I can send in for repair.

Well, setting up my new aquarium, I'm connecting all my Hydros gear. I should have documented how I had it connected, but I didn't. Anyway, I have "Collection is Broken". Tried numerous connections, still no dice. Current connectivity:
Kraken with terminator connected to X4 to WEv2 to XS to X2 to XP8. From the XP8 it does a long run command bus only to X2 (has power) to XS.

I tried various others, like the command bus only to the Kraken, etc.

It's been a long couple of days....

So the WHOLE collective flashes "No Responding" and "Online" within the app. When I turn off power to the X2 and XS that are connected via the Command Bus (no power), all controllers except for those two are online....just have the red Collection Broken bar at the top.

Do I remove those two from the collection?

Removing the X2 / XS stabilized the collective. I then tried to add the X2 and it went into a panic of Not Responding. It's like the data cable got weird on me. Thoughts?

Was the Launch a part of the collective? If the collective will not be happy if it is missing. The order they are hooked up will make no difference in the communications as long as you have the terminators in place. The only time the order might matter is for power distribution on large collectives. You might want to spread out the power givers but most of the time there are enough power givers it would not be an issue.

Launch is not part of this particular collective. This is separate.

I have two collectives...
Main:
  • XP8
  • Kraken
  • X4
  • X2
  • XS
  • X2 (by Salt Mix)
  • XS (by Salt Mix) - connected via data cable
I have removed the two Salt Mix controllers from the collective. Even though the app shows Collective Ok, I still get Collection Broken notifications. Not sure if still catching up or what.

Bedroom:
  • Launch
  • WE-Le
Launch is not connected. I cannot remove the Launch from the collection.

Back to the Main collection, I cannot add the controllers via data cable to the collective even though those were configured like that prior to my tank transfer.

I guess I could just setup a separate collection for the Salt Mix. I did have a dependency on a AWC dosing pump on a low water mark on my salt mix, but I guess I can just send me a message when it's low so I can shut down the pump manually. Kinda takes away the point...unless I can somehow figure out my issue with the cable....if that's what it is.

@Carlos, thoughts?

Did you try and reboot the collective from the right menu under device properties. That should clear any active alerts. If there was an alert active when the controllers were removed it will not clear until you reboot.

Can you run any type of cable between them? If so you might be able to send the signal using relay contacts and power the relay from a drive port and hook the contacts to a sense port or 0-10v input if you do any DIY on the system. I used to send signals between my Archon and Hydros using relays like this when I first started with the Hydros. It was in the garage only and the mixing station but it controlled the ATO and AWC pumps. I had no Hydros controllers at the tank back then.

I have....but never hurts to try again.

I can run another cable. I'm using the Hydros long bus cable, so it should work for data only.

Tempted to remove those and plug in to the rest of the collective just to see what happens.

Still getting Collective Broken emails even though the app is fine. I'm really tempted to destroy the whole thing and start fresh. However, not sure if that'll work.

You may still get the emails. The best bet would be to submit a support ticket so CoralVue can look into it. If the banner says the collective is ok and you still get the alert it may be the controllers that were removed that are creating the alert somehow.

FYI, it ended up being the data cable. Not sure why a cable would go.bad but it did....unless something happen within the connectors. Anyway, Michael at Hydros Coralvue support was very helpful. Now I know how to reset a controller with a magnet.

As for the Launch, they going to let me send it in to see if repairable.

So it was a data only cable that was causing the issue with the collective?

Seems to be. I tried to re-add the X2 and XS back to the main collective and I got my same issue. Once removed, no issues. I even tried connecting the data cable to other controllers on the main collective, no dice. Weird.
