Can someone tell me how to soften the liquid detection rope to make it manageable, it is so hard that when I put it on the entire edge of my stand, parts remain in the air and do not make contact with the surface.

Most folks have used loop tabas made by 3M to hold the rope down to the bottom surface. That is the best way to ensure the wire stays down.
