I added a water level sensor to my Control 4. I would like to use it in my ATO Reservoir to do two things: 1. Notify me when the reservoir is low and I need to refill it and 2. Turn off the ATO when the reservoir is low. I added the sensor to the system without any issue; however, I cannot figure out how to do either of these things.

First, the water level sensor does not have a notification function like the temperature probe or a leak sensor.

Second, the ATO output wants to set a dependency of when the level sensor is DRY to turn on the ATO. I want the dependency to go the other direction, so that when the level sensor is WET, it turns on the ATO Output. That is, when there is water in the reservoir (sensor is WET), the ATO output is powered. I have a Tunze osmolator on the system which handles my ATO functions, so I do not need the Control 4 to act as an ATO, I just need the Control 4 to toggle power on and off the the ATO Output (plug) during different conditions.

Can I set the level sensor to send me notifications? Can I set the level sensor to to trigger an Output when it is WET?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

The notification function for level inputs is planned for the next firmware revision.
To trigger on WET use a Generic Output or a Klir Output.

Thanks,

Don

I was wanting to do more or less the same thing but with a skimmer cup. Once it’s full shut off the skimmer and send me a text

They have a sensor specifically for that that hooks to a sense port.
I am the proud owner of that sensor. It will shut the skimmer off but there isn’t away to have a notification tied to the sensor. At least not that I have been able to identify.
My work around is I have a light that is tied to the sensor, and when the sensor is wet it turns the skimmer off and the light on. However I’d like a text or push notification.

For now you can create an output and use that sensor to turn it on and set the maximum on time to 1 minute and set run past maximum on time to off and it will send you alert fo exceeding max on time. This would be a temp fix until they get the alerts done.

Don, you mentioned that water level sensor would have a notification function in the next firmware revision. Did this come out in 177? If so, I could not find it. Thanks for your help.

Mike, there is a work around to use an output to track with the sensor and set either the maximum on timer or maximum off time to a few minutes and set run past maximum to off. Then set the notification to what you need. I think is is default to orange.

The support for it is in 177. However a new app version will be needed to enable it. The new app version is in Beta testing now.

Hi Don - just wanted to check in to see if the new app version was deployed and if we can now use the skimmer sense to trigger on/off for the protein skimmer - thanks.

It is in test. Release should be next week.
