I just upgraded from an X2 to an X2 + X3 Collective, which went great! Now monitoring two tanks.

I then added a new wifi strip to power and control the second tank but the behavior is really strange. It paired fine and the control app sees it. When I manually turn off or on an outlet (on a simple output like "heater") I can hear the strip switch (clicking noise), but no power to the outlet. If I press the button on the strip, all outlets get power, but then after a couple seconds switch back off.

Could it be a bad strip? I've tried deleting and re-adding it but to no avail. I think I should open a support ticket, but wanted to see if anyone had any advice on fixing this on my own.

Thanks!

Not sure if it will help you or not because i was nto doing a collective but i went from an XS to a control 4 and had to reboot the router then add the wifi strips to ge tthem to work properly, i also had to reboot again to add my feeder. Seems like rebooting the router resets all the equipment and it works perfect then

I can try that... but it doesn't make sense to me--the strip definitely has a wifi connection, the app can see it, and I can hear it audibly "clicking" when I turn outlets on and off. Just doesn't seem to be consistent power to the outlet.

On the new strips if there is no outlet on the light around the button will be off. This is normal for the new strips.

As long as the app shows the WiFi strip status as "Responding," it is ok. Once you define output and turn it ON, the power light will also turn on.

But that's exactly the problem. The wifi strip status says "responding" and I defined outlets. When I turn one ON there's an audible clicking noise, but no power to the outlet.

I don't think I'm doing anything wrong as my first strip is configured and working fine. Should I open a support case?

Have you tried plugging a lamp to that outlet to make sure. The click is the relay contacts closing. Also try a different outlet on the strip. If that works or not submit a support ticket. If the lamp works in the outlet then it may be an issue with the device you have plugged into the outlet or an issue with then connection between the plug on the device and the wifi strip. Does the LED light for the outlet when you turn it on?

I'm an idiot!

I decided to give it one more try--and realize I had the power outlet order reversed. All is working now, thanks!

There is a learning curve with any of the controllers. I have been there also.
