Hi everyone-
While swapping out a Pinpoint Ph Probe today I accidentally spilled about 1/2 of the bottle of solution that covers the tip into my sump. Does anyone know what is in this solution and if it is detrimental to the tank chemistry? I just started cycling this tank so there is no live stock in the tank at all.

Usually it's potassium chloride, doubt it would have any impact as a few millilitres in gallons of salt water would be very diluted.

Just an update on this and for everyone's future reference. The manufacturer of the Ph Probe American Marine responded with this below:

The probe storage solution is a light acid environment with antimicrobials to keep things from growing on the tip of the probe. The approximate pH is from 3.7 to 4.2 of the solution. The total volume of solution in that bottle is about 8 to 9 ml and if you spilled all of it in 130 gallon fish tank when you consider the dilution factor you have absolutely no problem at all. I have had people spill the large 60 ML bottle in a 5 gallon nano reef with no problem. If you want to be super careful you can run a poly filter for two or three days.
