As the title suggests this is another return pump question.

Last Saturday night my Varios8 died on me after years 7+ of service, at least my UV-PUMP keeps the tank running, but I need to replace the return pump asap. I been researching and looking for a replacement and came up with this three options, another Varios8, Sicce Syncra SDC 9.0 or a Jaebo MDP 20000. All of these pumps will make the job done for shure.

But my questions are...

1. Which one will be the best choice? I'm very inclined to try a different brand, even My Varios8 was a horse power house and it wouldn't require any modification to the plumbing "plug and play". Anyway I will take these opportunity to remake the plumbing because one of the manifold ball valve strips and can't no longer be used with one of my reactors.

2. Did the Sicce Syncra SDC 9.0 can be controlled by Hydros? I read somewhere that they are working on it, but it was a post about a year old. And can't find any updates on this matter.

3. Jaebo MDP 20000 - I looked at the Post by @JeffB418 on interfacing Jaebo pumps to Hydros Control but since this pump is relatively new from the Jeff post. This one isn't in the list of pumps that could be used in his DIY guide. Can it be linked?

On and all... this three pumps options are in the same price range including the Jaebo MDP with the extras accessories for the linkage, if it can be used.

I will appreciate suggestions and thoughts if anyone has used any of these pumps (Sicce Syncra SDC 9.0, Jaebo MDP 20000).

Thanks you all,
Compy

IMHO I would stick with the Varios8. Not that there is anything wrong with the other choices. I'm just an Reef Octopus Fan. :)

Looks like Michael posted a link for you. It controls it through the cloud. The Hydros connect to the Sicce cloud to control and get return data. So no hardwired connections.

What did you end up going with? I'm also on the fence between the Varios8 and the SDC 9.0.
At the end I decided to go with the SDC 9.0. Nothing wrong with Reef Octopus they are super reliable and worth every penny, I still run two others Octopus plus the Skimmer. But I just want to try Sicce for a while and that was the opportunity after some back and forth researching and thinking about it. Time will tell, so far so good for my purposes 😉

Does it integrate well with the wave engine as far as control? Also is it much louder than the Varios?

If you are referring to the SDC 9 it is controlled as a 3rd party device and does not require a Wave Engine since control is via the Sicce cloud and there is no direct connection to the pump. I have the SDC 3 on mine. I do power it also via a force port on my Kraken but the SDC has a barrel type power input connector, The larger pumps use a different connector for power.

I feel more comfortable with something that has 0-10v control, so maybe the Varios 8 is the way to go for me?

A lot of people use them and they have a big following but I'm just not a fan of the Jaebo pumps. No particular reason as I've never even used their DC return pumps. Just a couple powerheads many years ago. I'd stick with the Reef Octo or Sicce. I havr both the Reef Octo VarioS 8 and Sicce SDC 9.0. Both integrate nicely with Hydros. Sicce via an api and Reef Octo via 0-10v. I'd give the nod to Reef Octo because of the 0-10v. Don't need to be concerned with internet connectivity to access the api. Only reason to go Sicce is I think it hand a bit more head pressure. Though neither pump is pressure rated.

I went with the Varios 8. It's due to arrive today.

Michael, I too recently purchased an Syncra SDC 9.0 return pump and it seems that the instructions on the help section to add a 3rd party device is out of date. For the Family name you have listed Tester, which does not allow you to enter they TYPE: Sicce Pump. The only thing I tried was the variable pump, but for some reason it does not stay connect to the Sicce cloud code. Please advise if there is another set up methode to connect the SDC 9.0 to Hydros.
By the way, does anyone have a DYI fix to remove this hidous power brick that allows us to tie into the Kracken 24v Force Port?
