Small tanks benefit from Hydros?

forgot to mention I bet I could then remove the wavemaker and have a super clean look, 2 controllable return pumps should be super cool in this tank
No doubt! The Biocube only has the one return. The stock return was shall we say, underwhelming. Hence the Sicce 1.5. I’m now looking at a gyre like the Ice Cap 2k to replace my Nero 3. Then have the Hydros Wavemaker control that. That should clean up some of the wires in my cabinet along with migrating to the Hydros ATO.

Ok to move on a bit to my heater/Ink Bird setup. If I keep the Ink Bird, would I have my heater plugged into it. Then the Ink Bird plugged into the WiFi strip.

With that configuration, would I be able to set my threshold temp with the Hydros temp sensor where if it exceeds the threshold (assuming something went wrong with the InkBird or heater). That outlet where the InkBird resides gets shut down?

Thank you for entertaining my questions while I get the feel for the capabilities of the Hydros.

You can do it that way. I just use the wifi outlet and set the thermostat on the heater a couple of degrees higher. That was the same way I was doing it with the other controller.

I think I know what you’re saying? The heater I have is plug in only. So no thermostat. InkBird controls it entirely by use of two sensors.

In that case keep the InkBird and use the Hydros as a backup. Set the high temp above the Inkbird setting and set the low setting just below that. There has to be a .4 difference I think not sure if it is .4 or not but there is a difference. When it goes above the high setting it will shut the outlet off. It will stay off until it goes below the low setting.

Thanks @Danny and everyone who chimed in what the System does and can do. @discog1013 good luck with your tank and future Hydros adventures! As for me, I’m pretty much sold! Now it’s a matter of putting my system together. I’ll probably start off with the 4 Starter kit and build from there.

Went pretty much in on the Hydros ecosystem. Ordered the following:
Control 4 Starter Kit
Wave Engine WiFi.
Hydros ATO
Rope Leak detector

Having a heck of time sourcing an Octo Pulse 2 (Pump only). If anyone has any leads, please let me know. Chose the pulse 2 because it’s the lowest GPH rated pump with direct connect for my small tank. I wanted a gyre but not sure it would’ve been the best fit without it making a snow-globe.

WE still is my favorite piece of gear for the Hydros system.
Octo Pulse do seem to be in short supply, took me a while to find one a while back. Their popularity seems to have jumped too.
