The only reason I bought this controller is to dose kalk slurry when PH dips below setpoint 8.1.

No matter what dosing pump stats I tell hydros I have all it will ever say is " doser run time too short". Even if I tell it the doser does 1ml per minute, (I want a 5ml dose) I get the same message with no explanation.

I gave up on setting a dynamic dosing regimine and tried the kalk strirrer schedule. Doesn't do anything at all with that either. After 5 hrs I'm pretty dissapointed with hydros.

What dosing pump are you trying to use? what is the daily dose you are trying to dispense?

As an example I dose All For Reef and it does not really change the pH quickly at all, but I used it to check out dynamic dosing anyway. I use a Intllab pump that is dosing at 12ml a minute. Below are the settings for the pump output. Also below that are two screenshots of the schedule. It is set to do a daily dose of 23.2ml if the pH is low. If it is high the daily dose is 20.4ml. If the input is not available then it will do a daily dose of 22.7ml. Those numbers are for the total dose for the day and not each runtime. I have it set to run six times a day so that total is split between them. I do have the All For Reef diluted at 1/2 strength. The last screenshot is a log of the dosing output. The rated pump speed is determined by the pump you are using. Hydros cannot change the speed of the pump. You will have to run a calibration check to see exactly what the speed of your particular pump is. The tell the Hydros what that speed is so it can calculate the run time to get the dosing you want. I think each run time has to be over 2 or 2.5 seconds for it to be able to run. It will not do a time less than that.

Even if I lie to hydros and claim my dosing pump does 10ml per minute it still says run time is too short even though that would work out to 30sec for my 5ml dose. I'm using their own Koemer/hydros branded doser.

And why the hell can't I tell it to dose 5ml regardless of the time it takes??? I have a 5ml test cylinder and after calibration it hits 5ml +/-.05 every time when manually dosing. That accuracy is perfectly fine for my use. Why the training wheels??

Edit: I just got it halfass working as "Generic Output" but Hydros doesn't even recognize my doser as a doser in that mode. It's just a thing that takes 5W until PH rises .01.

The fact that I bought their specific branded doser and can't get it to dose 5ml every 20ish min via PH setpoint on any mode made for that purpose (kalk reactor, dynamic dosing, calcium reactor) is not a good first experience.

So if I get you right you want it to dose unless the pH is above a certain point and if it is then stop? That can ge done easly while still using it as a dosing pump and using a dosing schedule. You can keep you generic output you have setup without using the timer on it. and set the output device to none. Then go to the schedule for dosing and set the depends on to the generic output and set it to off if off. So if the generic output is off the dosing scehedule will not start. As to why the schedule will not run can you post a screenshot of how you have it setup. That way one of us can see the settings and figure out why it is not running.

How many times are you wanting to dose the 5ml during the time the schedule runs which is usually a 24 hr period. The amount you enter is the total for all the dosing times and not 5ml. So as an example if you were dosing 5ml six times a day you would enter 30ml and not 5ml since it is 5ml each time over the schedule and that adds up to 30ml.

@iant419 the other thing we need to know is Dose Count. If you're trying to dose a total of 5ml over many doses then that may explain the run time error. BTW, the dose per pump is the total of all doses and NOT per dose. The recipe needs to run for a minimum time per dose to ensure accuracy. Your particular doser may be accurate but some are not exactly true over short durations. Maybe share screenshots of your dosing schedule and we can assist better.

Did you get it to work correcty?

I left it at zero which should mean unlimited. I just want it to dose 5ml every time ph drops below 8.4. I don't care how many times it doses and I don't want the actual run time (actual dose volume) to be dynamic.

The dosing schedules are not designed in this way. I suggest you look at the Kalk Reactor output type, make your set points 8.1 and 8.2 then figure out how long it takes to dose 5ml and set you Pump Maximum On Time to that. An alternative setup is to use a Generic output referencing pH as an Input and setting the Maximum On Time there. Either way, I would also set a Minimum Off Time to give the kalk time to circulate and get an accurate pH reading. You don't want to continue dosing as you may get larger pH swings on the high side if you do so.

The only problem is the if it stops for max on time it will stay off until the pH raises above the off setpoint to reset the maximum on time unless you override it on and set it back to auto each time.

Can you post your output settings and post your schedule settings if you are using one.
