Is it possible to use a temperature probe from a 3rd party vendor.

The exact probe is this one with a BNC connector.

GHL digital temp sensor:

Not on the sense port. If you could come up with your on circuit to convert the probe output to a 0-10v signal you can use one of the 0-10v inputs on the X4. Not sure it would be worth the effort as low as the price is on the Hydros temp probes. In fact they are less than the cost of that probe.

I think he is asking if he can use the BNC port (pH/ORP port) as a temp probe port. This would be nice for those who have the X4 that only need one pH probe and want to free up a sense port.

It would have to be in allowed in the software and I am not sure it is coded that way yet.

that is only for pH or ORP probes. I don't think you could make it to where it would work there and still work for pH and ORP probes also. Either way it would require different hardware inside the X4 to do. The temp probe uses the sense port and is a digital IC inside the probe which requires three of the 4 connectors on the sense port.

You can not use a GHL temperature probe on a hydros probe port. The GHL probe is a digital probe while the probe port on hydros is only analog. So even though it’s a BNC connector, it’s an entirely different interface functionally and won’t work regardless of software support.
