I have a Reef Octopus Skimmer with a Varios 4S and trying to get 0-10v control to work with a Hydros Control X4.

FS Status LED on the controller is lit Amber and hydros has a 0-10V output configured to run it. I've confirmed voltage is correct with a multimeter on the 3.5mm plug.

When I try to adjust the pumps speed with hydros by adjusting the voltage range, the Varios pump runs at full speed always. Dropping the 0-10V down to 0V does not stop the pump, nor slow it down at all.

When the 0-10V cable is plugged in to the Varios controller, the 0-10V LED on the Varios controller blinks super fast, always and regardless of the voltage.

Any thoughts? Could the controller be bad?

TIA

The 0-10v led should remain solid. If blinking then you don't have a good connection. Remove and reseat the 3.5mm connector pushing it all the way in. IF you used a 3.5mm headphone cable to extend, briefly remove and plug the Hydros quad cable in directly. Solid light with Hydros and blinking with the extension may mean coller isn't quite permitting it to insert deep enough. I had that with an extension I purchased off Amazon.

You are correct. When u push the 0-10v cables 3.5mm plug in and do it very firmly, the varios controller led stops blinking and goes solid. It would appear that the varios controller plug is recessed too deeply for the hydros cable. Guess I need to find an adapter. Tha K you very much.

I haven't had issues with the Hydros connectors but seen with others. Maybe something occurred with the mold when connector was assembled. Should be able to use a razor blade to trim just enough of the collar to allow it to make proper connection.

The problem is the varios controller has a small recessed divit on the plastic body which works fine for many 3.5 plugs. But the 0-10v hydros cable is to big in diameter to fit inside the recessed divit. So you can either trim the hydros cable connector down so it fits in the divit or buy a male/female pigtail on Amazon which is what I did.

Thanks for the help.
