voltages/watts?

For outlets/devices that allow voltage regulation, are there any rules of thumb on how to set minimums and maximums?
I'm not proud to say that I'm electrically "challenged."

It all depends on what you connect to the outlet and how much it draws. A small flow pump is going to draw less power than a heater. Before you set the range, you should monitor your device and its consumption and then set your range based on that consumption.
