Would it be possible to add an option within the Flow Pattern Schedule profile to "Invert Rotation" for a set schedule? Right now you can do it at the output level, but then any schedule program you run will just run in reverse (with the exception of Gyre since it runs both directions if allowed). I have seen some users want to run a Gyre type pump in forward and reverse using other schedule flow patterns based. This is handy for example if you run a forward pattern most of the day (constant, sine, etc) then for 30 mins overnight, you reverse the pump direction and run it constant at full in reverse to either clear the pump head or detris from a tank bottom. Adding a "Invert Rotation" option in addition to the Flow Pattern Schedule profile would allow this. The setup would look like this:

Output Pump Profile:
Gyre - 4K
Invert Rotation - Disabled
Allow Reverse - Enabled

Day Schedule:
Flow Pattern - LPS Reef
Schedule - 00:00:00 - 23:30:00
Invert Rotation - Disabled
Allow Reverse - Disabled
Clean Schedule:
Flow Pattern - Constant
Schedule - 23:30:01 - 23:59:59
Invert Rotation - Enabled
Allow Reverse - Enabled

With current controls the invert rotation is fixed for all schedules on 1 pump, it would be helpful to have it per schedule.

Agreed! It's tedious to manually invert my 4 gyres when I want to stir up detritus. Being able to build this in to a daily schedule would be a wonderful feature to have.

Invert Rotation is the wrong place for this feature. Invert Rotation is intended for when the pump always spins the wrong way (such as a mis-wired pump or other hardware problems). It is intended as a long term fix for a pump that isn't doing what is expected.

What you are looking for is called "Allow Reverse". For this to happen it needs to be specified in BOTH the pump itself and in the schedule. The meaning of "Allow Reverse" in a schedule depends on the individual flow pattern. For some patterns (such as sine wave) the pump will then spend half of it's time in each direction. For other patterns it doesn't do anything at all. For the use you are describing I would do the following:

  • Set "Allow Reverse" on all of the pumps you want to participate in this.
  • Create a Schedule with a Constant Flow pattern.
  • Check "Allow Reverse" on the Schedule.
  • Set this schedule to run a few times a day or whatever you would like.
On a Constant Flow pattern "Allow Reverse" means run backwards. So your pumps will run backwards at whatever speed you select when this schedule is active.
