I have 2 different tanks and each has a Hydros on them. Each has a Control XS and I love them!

Last week our Wifi went down for a brief period and it got me wondering, what happens to these systems if they are disconnected from the internet? While our Wifi was down, I was unable to tell if tanks were being heated properly or if the ATO would run. And on topic of the ATO, I wondered further if the Wifi were to drop out while the tank is being topped off, could it potentially continue to run and flood the tank? Since my ATO only runs for a few seconds at a clip, a couple times a day the scenario is unlikely, but murphy's law and all that...

If you are using the wifi power strips they will stay in the state they are in until communication is resumed. I use drive ports for ATO, AWC and dosing. Always have a backup for heaters. I use only heaters that have their own thermostat and set it around 3 degrees above the Hydros. Others use a seperate controller to control the heater and use the Hydros as the backup. I would not worry too much about the heater being off. It would take a while before that would be an issue. When you say loose wifi is that actual wifi or just internet. They are two different things. If you loose internet the Hydros will continue to run without an issue sine it only needs local wifi to run. If you loose wifi then that would be an issue with the wifi devices such as fish feeder and wifi strips and plugs. The XP8 is a controller and once in a collective shares input and output information on the command buss and not wifi. You will still need wifi and internet to communicate with the app unless you are home and have a device with the app that has a mobile service and bluetooth. If you do turn off wifi on the device and start the app. Then click the bluetooth icon in the left menu. Select the wifi master controller if you have a collective otherwise select the controller you want to check. It will let you override outputs if you want but not make any changes in the bluetooth mode. Hope this helps.

I think your question is what happens when internet is out. The system keeps running because it doesn't need internet, just need wifi for the wifi devices to operate.
