It sounds like the Launch might be best for you. It has just enough outlets for what you have listed. If you ever foresee the need for more outlets and or if you plan on running a calcium reactor then you might want to look at that X4 pro pack.

I’m on the fence as I like the launch do due to it having a ph and salinity probe but at the same time like the x4 can one have both or that would not make sense

I have recently started the switch over from Apex as well. I went with the x4 and xp8 combo and really like it. It does sound like the Launch is what you want.

You can get several controllers and create a collective with them. Then they act like one larger controller with the sum of all inputs and outputs. I currently have 15 controllers in my collective. When you get the X4 Pro Pack you are getting 2 controllers in it. You get the X4 with a XP8. It also comes with a command bus cable and 2 terminators for creating a collective. To add another controller to it all you would need is the controller and a command bus cable to add it to an existing collective which you would have with the Pro Pack once you have it setup and the collective created and both controller added to the collective. So you can get the Pro Pack and add a Launch to it or even go the other way if you want to do that. Just remember if going the other way make sure and have your Launch accessed when creating the collective if it is the one already setup since only the controller that the collective is created with has it's settings imported to the collective. Any controller that is added after it is created will have it's settings erased.

decision decision im a little confused as far as collective is it the same as adding a module like i would with my apex

Basically yes since with Hydros every module is either a standalone controller or can be a member of a collective. When in a collective all inputs and outputs are shared with the collective. So you can control an output on one controller using inputs or outputs from another controller. You will name the collective and the controllers will show up in the collective and not as a separate controller. Think of the collective as a virtual controller.

Sorta, it was confusing to me as well. Each of the devices can run independently or as a collection, Apex has to be connected to the main brain and only has 1 brain. I actually like the collective. I had to google it and read a lot.
