    ATO not working

    Could be a bad/loose connection.

    What is the "Terminator"?

What that resistor does is stop signal reflection from bouncing back and forth along the cable run and jumbling up the signal into something unreadable. You need one terminator /resistor at each end of CAN network.

    ATO Overfill

I used the log information for the ATO on and off times to fine tune my maximum run times. In my case, the ATO typically runs between 9 and 12 seconds, so my max run time is set for 20 seconds. Should my ATO container run dry, this will prevent the pump from burning out.

    Hydros ATO kit

It is the two sharp bumps. Keeps the pump chamber of the sump to a very tight level. In my Fiji sump, the ATO runs all of 10-11 seconds when it is triggered.

Control 3 shield pH circuit from interference

Two possibilities come to mind. In one case I had a bad ground combined with sufficient salt and moisture on a light fixture, it's mount and the tank frame to cause significant voltage to leak into the tank. Despite things appearing to be dry. Took a bit of trial and testing with my multi meter...

    Kessil 0-10V Control Interface

The red wires on the female ends feed from the tip, which is also the feed from the Hydros Quad cable 0-10v cable ends. The black wire is ground, and the white is for the middle (the ring) which is unused in the Quad cable ends and therefore unused in this application. The male jack to 3 screw...

    Kessil 0-10V Control Interface

Works like a charm. Took 5 minutes, including the time to open the packaging the parts came in.

    Kessil 0-10V Control Interface

Ordered a pair of female jacks with bare wires and male jacks with screw terminals. Hopefully the male end isn't too bulky for how close the mount and one of the knobs are to the input on the Kessil. Worst case scenario, I have a barrel jack laying around and will have to break out the soldering...

    Trouble with second mode

Some of these variable speed don't run below a certain speed. Might need to up the low speed percentage and see if that does the trick.

    Kessil 0-10V Control Interface

Just set up a Kessil H80 fuge light. With the 3.5mm jacks of the Hydros quad cable only using the tip for single channel control, wouldn't setting up a simple combiner/splitter to plug two of the quad cable outputs into a single male jack wired to use both the tip and first ring (combine the...

    Coral Spawning with Hydros

Very cool ideas. It's not just corals that breed in response to seasonal changes of photo period, temperature and moon phase. I think any of us using such options are likely to see an increase in breeding events in a variety of species. In the lab we typically adjust heater/chiller settings and...

Chart the current from power outlets

I can see current draw being useful to see if it's drawing excessive current due to a leak that isn't tripping a breaker/gfci. Also would tell you if the heater stopped working when you have no draw while the outlet is on. Though that would take re-engineering the quad outlet. For simply seeing...

    What's with the breathing LEDs?

Carlos, good too see Coral Vue still seems to be treating you well. David, speaking of a blast from the past, good to see your still around the reefing community. Danny, your not kidding about some of the changes in equipment over the past few years. Just set up a pair of Hydra 32's, much...

    What's with the breathing LEDs?

Carlos and I go back quite some time, we were both mods at Reef Central for a bit. Life getting all too busy, I've been off any of the forums for some time now, so haven't spoken with him in far too long. The Salinity probe is tricky. Especially when you throw in all the electrical interfence...

    What's with the breathing LEDs?

Hi Danny, yeah I read all that. Just found it amusing that they call slow blinking breathing. Speaking of amusing, last time I saw @Carlos in person, he had more hair than I did. Watching a couple of the hydros videos, I see he is now balder than I am!

    What's with the breathing LEDs?

Finally succumbing to empty tank syndrome and setting an old 55 back up after collecting dust for too many years. Among the new equipment I've been sending Premium Aquatics bunches of money for is the X4 starter pack. While reading the instructions I notice the LEDs breath colors!!! That's the...
