I'm looking into getting an XP8 to add to my "Start" and replace my wifi strip. What I was wondering was, do I plug both the Start and the XP8 into a wall outlet for power, or should I be linking them via a command bus cable? Or would both of those provide redundancy? Thanks very much.

They both need their own power. The command bus cable will be how you connect them to form a collective so they can talk to each other.

Yes like John says both need to be powered and also you will need a command bus cable and a couple of terminators to form a collective.
