Firmware 186 and App 199 are now available for the following devices:
  • Control X4
  • Control X2
  • Control XS
  • WaveEngine
  • IceCap WiFi Controller
Firmware 186 is now the public release version

IMPORTANT: Firmware 186 requires App 199. To update to firmware 186, you must download App 199 first. If you are using the web app, please clear your browser's cache so it updates to the new app as well.

NEVER, EVER, EVER update your firmware if you are not in the same location as your controller.

As always, you can also control your devices using our CoralVue HYDROS Web App. (Be sure to clear your browser's cache and refresh so that the app updates to the latest version.)

Installation instructions:

BEFORE
you do that, please do read the following:
  1. Once you update the firmware and upload, you CANNOT downgrade the unit or revert to the old firmware.
  2. The update will automatically update the WaveEngine to match the way the control works.
    1. Pumps are treated as OUTPUTS. To add a pump, you go to OUTPUTS and add the pump to add a simple pump on the Control.
    2. PRESETS and TRIGGERS are now combined into SCHEDULES. The schedule will allow you to select a flow pattern, give it a schedule, and assign pumps to it the same way you assign INPUTS on a GENERIC OUTPUT.
    3. You can now run scheduled on certain days of the week.
    4. You can also now run schedules based on the Nth day.
    5. You can assign pump positions on the schedules so you can have one pump be "Same Side" on A schedule while "Opposite Side" on schedule B.
    6. You can now assign pump direction on the schedule, so if you want to run Pump A only in reverse for a couple of hours, you can do that now!
UPGRADING SINGLE DEVICES (NON-COLLECTIVE)

To update the WaveEngine to the new firmware:
  1. Head over to the download firmware screen and tap on "Download 186."
  2. Tap on the "Install 186" button and wait for your WaveEngine to restart.
  3. After restarting, connect to the WaveEngine and go to the STATUS screen. IT WILL BE EMPTY! Tap on the "Upload Required" orange bar at the bottom. This will "convert" all your settings from the old flow to the new one.
ADDING THE WAVEENGINE TO THE COLLECTIVE

You can now bring your WE into the collective, but before you do that, please know the following:
  1. You must be running app 199 or greater.
  2. Your WaveEngine must be running firmware 186
  3. The WaveEngine CANNOT be a Collective WiFi Master, so set the WaveEngine to NEVER.
  4. When you bring your WaveEngine into an EXISTING collective, the WaveEngine will be imported EMPTY!!!! This means that you will need to program it again within the collective when you bring the WE into the collective. Unfortunately, there is no way around this, and it is in line with any devices brought into an EXISTING collective.
To bring the WaveEngine into your collective:
  1. Connect to your Collective and make sure you can see your STATUS
  2. Tap on the upper-left-hand-corner hamburger menu and then select "Devices."
  3. Tap on the + symbol at the bottom of the page
  4. Select your WaveEngine
  5. IMPORTANT: Set the WiFi Priority to "Never"
  6. Upload your changes
Once your WaveEngine is part of the collective, it will restart, and then, the LEDs will change to the same color as the Control units. Notice the green LED at the top of the unit letting you know the WE is now part of a collective.

Once your WaveEngine is part of the collective, it will restart, and then, the LEDs will change to the same color as the Control units. Notice the green LED at the top of the unit letting you know the WE is now part of a collective.

If you see a white LED at the bottom of your WE, that means that you have a WE-ETM version!

!!!! --- WaveEngine/IceCap Controller Warning --- !!!!
  1. Your old configurations will be automatically imported to the new Outputs/Schedule format. That being said, YOU SHOULD STILL DOUBLE CHECK SETTINGS to make sure things were properly imported.
  2. Once you update your WE/IceCap Controller to the new firmware, you MUST upload your changes. There is an orange bar telling you "Updates Required" so please, upload the changes when you see that orange bar! If you do not upload the changes, then the migration will not be completed!
  3. If you add your WE to your collective, ALL settings on your WE will be lost. Settings ARE NOT imported to a collective. Make sure to write these down before adding to a collective.

!!!! --- HYDROS Control Warning --- !!!!
  1. Water Sensor / Skimmer Sensor INPUTS - We added the ability to trigger an alarm when the sensors are WET or DRY. If you have a sensor created, please make sure that the alarm will trigger in the correct state for your setup.
  2. Collectives and Button Boxes - You must go into the OPTIONS menu and reselect the "Mode Control Input" so it is set to the correct device where your button box is connected to. Once done, upload your changes!

Same issue. WE downloaded and updated no problem but my Control4/Collective is stuck downloading for some time.......lost all my WE settings too so I would like to get this going pretty quickly

For your wave engine. Did you follow this step from above:

Once you update your WE/IceCap Controller to the new firmware, you MUST upload your changes. There is an orange bar telling you "Updates Required" so please, upload the changes when you see that orange bar! If you do not upload the changes, then the migration will not be completed!

As for the download issue submit a ticket to support.Coralvue.com

Let me see from here. Give me a few minutes. Please close out of the app so you do not override any of my changes.

The WE is working and updated fine, I just lost all my setttings so I'm trying to get the main pump at least running again until I can get the collective and HC4 update to fully download and install. I am having an issue getting my Varios4 running again after setting up a new output and schedule for it. Restarted the WE and it still wont run the pump

Ok, the issue why you are having problems downloading the firmware is because you have a collective of 1. That is something that is an overkill since a collective is only for more than one devices. On the old version of the app we do warn you not to create a collective of one and on the new app, it is something we do not allow.

In this case, we will need to destroy your collective, then restore your settings into the individual device, and then update the settings. Once you remove the device from a collective of one, you will be able to update without any problems.

Please submit a ticket at CoralVue Support Portal and tomorrow we will help you with the process. We will get you updated in no time. We just need to follow the steps in the correct order.

Why is this not showing up as available for my devices? It's been 3 days. This does not appear to be like previous upgrades. Perhaps some better instruction.

What is the color of the LEDs on the WE? Is it connected to the cloud and internet?

Perhaps you have not updated to the latest version of the app?

You did not say we needed to. You said if we did we would be required to update our devices first. So I was trying to update the devices before updating the app.

Ok, I was able to get the return pump going again, so life support is back to ok. It is connected, Yes. I just had the wrong direct output selected.

So what do I do about the Collective of 1? The app wont allow me to do anything other than try to download the new one. I can't delete the collective because it keeps going back to wanting to update, or go back which is just a blank screen

Because the browser is already updated and I updated the app on my phone, I can't do anything. How do i roll back the app?

The problem I am seeing now is because I had a collective of 1, I'm sort of boned because the app is updated already but I can't do anything with my old collective because it wants to update the firmware to 186 but it won't download or take because of the collective of 1? Not sure what to do now but I'm nervous I won't be able to get this all going again before bed

I think Carlos wants you to submit a support portal ticket. Check out his reply earlier in this thread.
