The answer is yes. I have a TalentCell Mini UPS dc output connected to the WE2 power in with an icecap battery cable. I have the WE2 set to low power/battery mode/schedule. Both octo 4 pumps are running at 50% power. I am logging the run time and will report back here.
Hi Thom - I setting my WE to run on on 12 V battery during a power outage. Running a few gyre pumps at 50% to help maintain O2 levels at safe level. I wanted to take it step further, so this my question that you maybe able to help - can I set a drive port to on during a power outage? One thought is to have a 6-12 V air pump turn on. I would place a small stone by one or two of the gyre pumps. This extra step would be when I travel and I would like extra protection of crashing the tank. If the drive port can be active during a battery back-up/power outage would what voltage would it supply, 12v or reduce to 6 v? Lastly, is the specs on drive ports 12v, 1.5 amps? I have not been able to find this.Normal operating state is 24V. When you're in low power mode, the Wave Engine is operating at 12V. So while you're at 50, that is actually approxumately 25% compared to normal when you factor in the voltage drop. And that is fine because at this point you're just looking for some circulation and oxygenation to maintain life. Good to hear it's working as expected and hopefully normal power returns soon. Just remember, after the fact the TalentCell will require its own charger as Kraken's internal charger only supports lead acid.
Which wave engine has drive ports? I thought they were all direct drive ports for powering BLDC type motors. those output three phase signals to the three wires and the amount depends on the motor that is connected to the port which is selected when setting up the output.Hi Thom - I setting my WE to run on on 12 V battery during a power outage.
